Pioneers of Science by Oliver Lodge (1851-1940) This book takes its origin in a course of lectures on the history and progress of Astronomy arranged for Sir Oliver Lodge in the year 1887. The first part of this book is devoted to the biographies and discoveries of well known astronomers like Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler, Galileo and Newton. In the second part, the biographies take a back seat, while scientific discoveries are discussed more extensively, like the discovery of Asteroids and Neptune, a treatise on the tides and others. So this is a “light” meat dinner. It doesn’t call for very much meat, but has enough that it couldn’t be called vegetarian! In a healthy young brain, activity in the DMN quickly diminishes when a person engages in an activity that requires focus on the external environment. Older people, people with Alzheimer"s disease and those who are schizophrenic have more difficulty "down-regulating" the DMN so that other brain networks can come to the fore, Kramer said.A recent study by Kramer, Voss and their colleagues found that older adults who are more fit tend to have better connectivity in specific regions of the DMN than their sedentary peers. Those with more connectivity in the DMN also tend to be better at planning, prioritizing, strategizing and multi-tasking.

Therefore, the massive pressure of taking care of four parents plus one child has inevitably fallen onto these young people. In China, it has been recognized for a long time that the elderly should be taken care of by their children. However, as the family structure changes, the group of "only child" feel more and more helpless in doing so.
Children 10 and under often need more help with writing than we think they should. We expect them to be able to think of an idea all on their own and then write about it. But in truth, many kids * Struggle to come up with writing topics. * Forget what they want to say. * Get overwhelmed by perfectionism. * Complain that their hand hurts. * Fear making mistakes. Even if they don’t learn with difficulty, writing can throw them into a tailspin.
